TG PURPOSE
The purpose of the Tribal Gathering (TG) concept is to uniquely, and in a F2F environment, connect with others who are practitioners in the International Great Teachers Movement or who are interested in deepening their understanding of the NGTM as originally designed by David B. Gottshall.  As he no longer travels and conducts seminars, the TG is designed for the specific purpose of sustaining the next generation of core NGTM practitioners.  Current practitioners have become the next iteration of Movement leadership and the defacto "go to" people whose primary directive is seminar perpetuation.

ORIGINS
At the conclusion of the 2017 Hawai'i National GTS, its leader David Sherrill suggested the idea of a “nuts & bolts” gathering where participants would drill down into the nuances of GT seminar process.  As a result, the first Tribal Gathering was conducted in Western North Carolina in March 2018 with significance and positive outcome. While the core principles and elements of the NGTM have remained unchanged, we find ourselves using our experiences with David Gottshall and each other to enrich the basics of our simplistic processes of professional learning for teaching faculty, staff, and administrators.

WHO (Intended Audience)

  • Current NGTM practitioners
  • Seminar facilitators, coordinators, directors, conductors
  • Professional learning faculty and/or staff organizers
  • Members of higher education teaching and learning centers that support teaching faculty
  • Community college administrators who want new ideas to support faculty and campus innovation
  • Higher education (FT-PT-ADJT) faculty seeking simple, process-based solutions for instructional problems
